![]() beestis clepid chymeres, that han a part of ech beest, and suche ben not, no but o only in opynyoun. 1382, John Purvey, Bible, Prologue, p.( Greek mythology ) Alternative letter-case form of Chimera, a supposed monster in Lycia with the head of a lion, body of a goat, and tail of a dragon or serpent, killed by the hero Bellerophon. In reference to organisms with distinct areas of different genetic makeups, a calque of German Chimäre, used by Hans Winkler in 1907. Chimerism is defined as a ‘phenomenon of occurrence of more than one type of different and distinguished genotype in an organism’.This phenomenon, although a rare sight, can be seen in different kingdoms of life plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. In reference to the fish, directly from Latin Chimaera, used by Linnaeus. Variant of Middle English chimere, chymere, & chymera under renewed Latin influence from the 16th century, from French chimère, from Latin Chimaera, from Ancient Greek Χίμαιρα ( Khímaira, “ fire-breathing mythological monster, fire- spewing Lycian or Cilician mountain ” ), from χίμαιρα ( khímaira, “ she-goat ” ), from χίμαρος ( khímaros, “ male goat ” ) + -α ( -a ), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰey. I think, though, that if this understanding of how chimerism works can be accepted, that it should go a long way toward acceptance.A deep-sea chimaera or ghost shark (sense 7 species unidentified) from the Celebes Sea ![]() There is widespread harassment and even the nice people have programs to set make gay and transgender people straight. That generates bullying, mockery, hurtful jokes and more.Īround the world are laws and religious dictates that in some cases have capital punishment for gay and transgender folk. However, the prevalence is still unclear. As this review shows that most MCDZ twins are discovered by accident, it can be argued that it is far more common than has been assumed until now. ![]() People that look biologically male or female, but act the opposite seems to many people to be obvious evidence of weirdness. Chimerism is demonstrable in 90.3 of the twins, leading to various diagnostic difficulties. Only by using difficult and recent laboratory methods is this possible. I understand why biological determinism has been rejected when gay and trans folk are indistinguishable physically from anybody else sharing their gross physical biological gender. There are a lot of LGBTQ folk who also reject that idea because to them it feels like they are not their biology. But in the academic LGBTQ community there is a strong aversion to the “biology is destiny” idea. I’ve had a number of transgender people write to me, and also gay men. I haven’t exactly been embraced by LGBTQ groups so far. I think it probably explains most of what we see. So I guess I am the originator of this theory of transgender and homosexuality. I kept expecting someone else would publish a similar paper because it seemed so obvious. But I was counseled strongly to leave it alone- it would be a “career killer” in biology. And, some campuses might be willing to consider it. There may be acceptance of such studies in the humanities department on most campuses. But I was discouraged from doing so by everyone I talked to. ![]() In grad school I talked about writing the paper, or trying to study it further. Like most things, this really started years before 2011. I am writing it because someone asked me to write it. This popular format article you are reading comes from a paper I published 6 years ago in 2011. But I think that the majority are, probably the vast majority. I don’t think that every gay or trans person is a chimera.
